Reflective Beauty

Reflective beauty ....sometimes more intense, more thoughtful.

"Beauty is a primeval phenomenon, which itself never makes its appearance, but the reflection of which is visible in a thousand different utterances of the creative mind, and is as various as nature herself." ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Often you don't have to see the object of beauty to understand or experience the emotion of that beauty. It was a cold afternoon after a two day period of drizzle and rain. Finally, the clouds parted and the late afternoon sun began to shine; the mist and humidity still in the air gave body to the golden rays. It was an average winter's day, nothing very special; no budding of the trees or flowers blooming... but when I glanced over the bland parking lot with rather bad drainage, here it was.... a pool of beauty. The trees themselves were nothing to speak of, but the reflection gave a completely unique sense of place and time. The bare branches weaving together a web in front of the newly blue sky, spindly brooms sweeping away the clouds.... and the bright yellow parking stripes framing this unlikely canvas. It tells all I need to know about the scene.. without the interference of traffic, street lights and strip malls.. an oasis of beauty in the everyday monotony of city life.

Carmi's photo theme for this week is "reflective"... I thought this "reflected" one definition.
