Admiring From Afar

Maggie takes center stage. Her adoring fan, Nicki, watches from afar.

"Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love." ~ Charlie Brown
Miss Maggie is a DIVA. She wants what she wants, when she wants it and lets you know about it. She also makes it perfectly clear when she doesn't want something... to be brushed, to be petted, to be picked up, to be bothered by a lovesick (but fixed) boy cat who has been longing to sit with her, clean her ears, touch her head, sniff her nose... anything to be near her. Maggie will have none of it. Nicky has suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.. as well as sharp claws across the nose and right crosses to the head over the years. He still makes the effort, but eventually decides it is a better idea, as well as a safer one to simply admire her from afar.... beneath the bench. Finally, a spark of intelligence from Nicky.

Carmi's theme is "black and white" this week and Nicky feels a bit "stark" here. Maggie, on the other hand, is showing her typical DIVA pose... self-confidence oozing from those eyes. She is prepping to take a trip on Friday's Ark.

Maggie is indeed a beauty.  Poor Nicky.  Perhaps someday he will find his love?

I would have fun colorizing those piercing eyes (I submitted a photo of my son, colorized his t-shirt and the plants behind him while the rest is black and white) - this is a beautiful photo of gorgeous kitties!

What a divine portrait of the lovelorn, rejected suitor and the tempramental diva!

Oh, my...I LOVE this...on multiple levels. LOVE cats. We have a Lucy and Nicky with almost the same relationship as your Maggie and Nicky and I've been waiting for just the right photo op to capture it. I LOVE your description of their relationship, the photo, the black and white...and I'm hooked...at least for the moment. The boys are in bed and I've retreated to my upstairs room under the pretense of hammering out two articles due next week...but I must take a break and play along with this photo challenge. I'm having photography withdrawals here on "mimi duty". I need a little photo fun fix. =)

Aren't cats just adorable! You have love their moods and style and which one has more power, you or maybe they do truth be told.  Life would be so boring without our furry friends! Beautiful photo!

OMG, does this shot tell a story! Funny how entire conversations can take place with nary a word being exchanged. This shot exemplifies that in spades.

Love how you chose to compose it, too. You'll need more wall space, though, because you keep taking pictures that demand to be framed and hung.

Still chuckling about the story behind the photo! A wonderful shot displaying the diva in all her glorious "feathers"!

I can't tell if she's being watched for good intent or bad.  There is definately a story here wanting to be told. http://looseleafnotes.com

I feel Nicky's pain....What a great photo this is! I LOVE my animals but sometimes struggle to photograph them without it looking like a cheesy calendar - yours is perfect!

What a wonderfully composed picture!  Great tones too.  And the cats are precious.

Beautiful cat and I can see that someone is brushing her....The cat who doesn't need to be brushed loves it and the one who hates it always has a fur ball.....sigh....
