In Like A Lion

Up from the sea, the wild north wind is blowing
Under the sky's gray arch;
Smiling I watch the shaken elm boughs, knowing
It is the wind of March.
~ William Wordsworth, Written in March

March really came in with a roar this year... snow then rain, then more snow and more rain.... finally ending up with almost 1.5 inches already this month. Another in the long line of Nor'easters we have had this winter. The wind was again, amazingly strong and with my room facing northwest... well, it howled and creaked and the screens shook as the rain pounded the windows.... all night for two nights. Today, still windy but the sky was clear, the barometric pressure is on the way up and the sun was out, even if it was still cold. The mourning doves lined up, perched along the back fence hunkered down against the wind. I decided to clean the french door windows and was opening the door when a large fluttering of wings swooped around the side of the house and right up to the door, then back over the hot tub and out to the back fence. It was our hawk... today was a hunting day, but no luck. The hapless doves managed to escape... this time.

As for the picture, it comes from a warmer place, Grand Canary Island. No, I haven't been there but my brother performed there last summer and brought me a horde of pictures to work with... yes, I must live life in exotic settings through his pictures. I love the look in the lion's eye and it is my contribution to Carmi's weekly theme... monochrome.

That is an incredible photo.  Thanks for sharing.  You all really have had the weather, haven't you.  Every time we think it's going to warm up in Florida, it rains and gets cool again.

I'm over here in Waynesboro, and, while it's cool, the sun is shining brightly, and it is beautiful outside.  There are still piles of snow everywhere and snow in David's yard.

That's a terrific photo. Our March came in like a lamb here and I might have preferred the lion, so that the end of the month could be calm, warm and dry!

Yes. We've had a very late wet season...late summer and early autumn, with most of the outback in the state being flooded the most for over a century.  Devastating for the folk out there...and it's still raining.  We needed the rain but this is a bit too much.  It's time for it to stop.

That's a beautiful photo shot, too.

I love the texture of this shot. Funny how a picture can make the inanimate literally come alive. Here's to calmer weather for us all in the near and far future, as I suspect we could all do with a little less drama in that department.

You sure have had more out-of-line weather this Winter than what we have had here in Oslo.
Well we have Snow, much more than 1 1/2 Inches, but no Storms nor Rain.
In fact, Oslo is sheltered from most extreme weather. When we say it's blowing, people from other parts of Norway just laugh.
You have dome a great work with the Lions Head.

Such wacky weather this winter.   Here we have nothing but lambs... so far.  :)
