A Rusty Hinge

Rusty hinge. (Click picture for larger view) Posted by Picasa
"May the hinges of friendship never rust, or the wings of love lose a feather." ~ Edward Bannerman Ramsey (Scottish educator and dean of the University of Edinburgh, 1793 - 1872) Reminiscences of Scottish Life
The wooden gate is weathered, its hinge is rusted; but with just a little oil and a little work, it still does the job. Friendship, like the hinge, can be rusty; rusty from separation by time, distance or circumstances. But with a little care, a little time, a little concern; it can flourish again. How do you keep your "hinges of friendship" rust free?
