The Ice Maiden

Scarlett loves ice. We discovered this when she started trying to lick a stray piece of ice that fell on the floor. Bless her little heart, she pushed and pushed it all over the place but could never get it up into her mouth. So we decided to fill up a little bowl with ice every morning. She now expects it, waits for it, nips at elbows at breakfast if her ice is forgotten and when the freezer door opens she runs to the open door. (continued)

It's amazing how long this small bowl of ice will hold her attention. She laps and licks to her heart's content. Occasionally an ice cube will stick to her chin or her lip and she will do a little wiggle dance backwards to fling it off. Then it's back to the ice bowl.

Scarlett has always been a bit rotund, plump, basically a fat bottomed little girl. I've always thought that if she accidentally came down the stairs too fast she could lose her balance and roll head over heels like a bowling ball down to the bottom. My mom thinks she has lost a lot of her behind since she has been eating the ice everyday. I'm not sure, I think it may just be a confirmation of the following quote:
"Even overweight, cats instinctively know the cardinal rule: when fat, arrange yourself in slim poses." ~ John Weitz
Be sure to visit all the kitties as well as other animals at Friday's Ark tomorrow and at Carnival of the Cats on Sunday, this week hosted by Blog d'Elisson.
