"Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night" ~ Hal Borland
Colleges and universities all over the states mark the end of summer with the return of students to classes. Some begin as early as the second week in August, while others commence class after Labor Day. It is an exciting time with new experiences, new responsibilities and new friends. The progressively shorter, waning days of summer give way to football games, dining halls, dorm rooms, library marathon study events and calls home to mom.

Transition is life. This "summer's end, fall's begin" evokes wistful memories of sunbathed beaches and family vacations; and yet there is a quiet stirring, an expectant sense of wonderful things to come.

Submission for Lens Day topic "summer's end". (end of post)
