The Oxen Are Lowing

Nubby the ox making music (Click on picture for larger view) Posted by Picasa
But see, the shepherds shun the noonday heat, The lowing herds to murmuring brooks retreat, To closer shades the panting flocks remove; Ye gods! and is there no relief for love? ~ Alexander Pope
Nubby was resting on the ground near the fence as we passed by. He greeted the groups of tourists with a loud, deep, lowing that frightened one little child. Poor Nubby, his oxen friends were busy in the village and he was left alone to fight off the flies and greet all these visitors. It seems too much for a fellow to bear. His face looks tear stained as if he mourns for his friends to return. This picture caught one of his songs.
