Delay At The Drawbridge

Delay at the drawbridge. (Click picture for larger view) Posted by Picasa

Another delay. There are many drawbridges in the Hampton Roads area but I have seen none so active as this. This drawbridge opens every hour on the hour, taking between ten and fifteen minutes for the whole cycle. Always a delay for traffic which quickly backs up. But as Thomas Jefferson said, "Delay is preferable to error." So whenever I travel this road, I have a good book and my camera in the seat. You never know when "delay" might bring "opportunity".
"Be not impatient in delay,
But wait as one who understands;
When spirit rises and commands,
The gods are ready to obey."

~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox (American poet and writer 1850-1919)
