Colonial Christmas: Shells Part 2

My favorite in the "shell" category. (Click pictures for larger view) Posted by Picasa
"At last the anchor was up, the sails were set, and off we glided. It was a sharp, cold Christmas; and as the short northern day merged into night, we found ourselves almost broad upon the wintry ocean, whose freezing spray cased us in ice, as in polished armor." ~ Herman Melville (1819-1891)
The second installment of the shell wreaths of Williamsburg. There were so many beautiful ones I just couldn't leave them out. I am still amazed at the creativity in these wreaths; below there are even asymmetrical wreaths for Judy. (Click "read more" to see additional pictures)

I don't know what the light brown seed pods (or berries) are. Maybe our florist can help me out with this. This wreath was on a side door and the larger wreath above was on the main door of the house.

This wreath used the pineapple accents again, this time with wheat and dried flowers and berries. I believe there are several books showcasing the decorations of Colonial Williamsburg; one even shows step by step instructions.
