The Unicorn & The Witch

"Now I will believe that there are unicorns." ~ William Shakespeare Posted by Picasa
"Do you know, I always thought unicorns were fabulous monsters, too? I never saw one alive before!' 'Well, now that we have seen each other,' said the unicorn, 'if you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you." ~ Lewis Carroll; Through the Looking Glass"
A pink unicorn and lurking in the background, a scary witch with a green face. This was the year of "My Little Pony" and she had a unicorn. This was near the end of the 'trick or treat' times; they were growing up, getting older and Nyssa would soon stay at home to give out candy or Halloween pencils and erasers, giving rather than receiving. So this Halloween she wanted to be sparkly, with a painted face and a lot of shine.

Her friend Lori, on the other hand, wanted to be the scariest witch on the block. We made her face green, her lips bright cherry red, and she wanted dark eyeliner around her eyes. She did the eyeliner herself and the end result looked like a cross between witch and Count Dracula.

They had fun. The costumes, walking the neighborhood with friends while talking up a storm and seeing the decorations in the trees, flower beds, on the porches and in the windows were more important than the candy.
