Miss Nyssa, age 2, Oklahoma City. (Click picture for larger view)
"The distinctive character of a child is to always live in the tangible present."When Nyssa was two years old we still lived in Oklahoma City, her birthplace. She didn't like the sound of the lawn mower so I had to work in the yard while she took her nap. On this day she woke up before I was finished and climbed out of her bed. She found some lipstick ("Mommy, look at the big crayon I found") in the bathroom drawer and "colored" her face. Doesn't she look quite pleased with herself?
